Stabbing Victim Identified In Oxnard Park Homicide

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — Investigators identified a 55-year-old stabbing victim Friday who was found in a park Thursday morning.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers were sent around 8:40 a.m. Thursday to the 1000 block of Indigo Place for report of a man down.

Once on scene at Sierra Linda Park, authorities located Labh Nigah of Oxnard suffering from stab wounds near Sierra Linda Elementary School.

A preliminary investigation revealed Nigah was walking in the park when he was contacted by an unknown number of suspects who stabbed him repeatedly, authorities explained.

He later died of his injuries.

KCAL9's Jeff Nguyen spoke with Jaswinder Kaur, who shared the shock of losing her husband in the stabbing.

Friends of the family shared Nigah was a father to three children, ages 16, 14 and 10. He reportedly worked seven days a week at a convenience store to provide for his family.

Kaur explained her husband has just dropped off their son at the elementary school, which sits next to the park.

Nigah's death marks the seventh homicide this year in Oxnard.

Investigators were scene throughout the area Friday morning questioning witnesses for information related to the incident.

"We're gathering information, but at this point, we don't know what sparked the attack," Cmdr. Eric Sonstegard said.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible.

The motive for the killing is under investigation, and no arrests have been made.
