Cal State Northridge Student Remains Missing For 9th Day

BEAUMONT (CBSLA.com)  —  The Cal State Northridge student who was last seen selling his car in Los Angeles nine days ago remains missing.

Abdullah Abdullatif Alkadi, 23, reportedly abandoned his classes and disappeared in the San Gorgonio area.

Alkadi and his older brother, Ahmed Alkadi, are full-time electrical engineering students at Cal State Northridge and hail from a prominent family in Saudi Arabia.

The missing man was last seen about noon on Sept. 18 at his home in the 9900 block of Reseda Boulevard, police reported.

Ahmed said Alkadi sold his car on Sept. 17 and police have located the vehicle. The person who purchased the car  is not linked to the student's disappearance.

Alkadi's last-known phone activity was traced to Beaumont, but the phone was then deactivated. His brother says he has no ties there and no reason to be in Beaumont, about a half hour from Palm Springs.

"We have been in misery," Ahmed Alkadi said last week. "We have tried everything. We called friends. We called relatives. We called everybody we knew and with no news. We are so worried about him."

Alkadi told KCAL9 last week that his parents were distraught -- his mother barely able to speak.

The missing man is 5 foot 3 inches tall and about 110 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and beige shorts.

Police ask anyone with information to call the LAPD's Missing Persons Unit at (213) 996-1800.
