Coroner Publicly Identifies Van Nuys Woman, 38, Killed In Willowbrook Ambush Shooting

WILLOWBROOK (CBSLA.com)   —  The Coroner's Office today publicly named the victim in a fatal ambush shooting in Willowbrook on Thursday evening.

The victim was identified as Van Nuys resident Sotai Jackson, said Coroner's Lt. David Smith.

A man -- believed to be 66, was also critically wounded in the shooting, at about 10:50 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of East 137th Street , said Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Graciela Medrano.

Jackson and the unidentified man were seated in a vehicle when two other cars pulled up alongside. Four people got out and opened fire on the pair, she said.

Jackson, in the driver's seat, was hit multiple times and died at the scene. The man, who was also hit by multiple rounds, was hospitalized in critical condition, Medrano said.

Officials believe the four gunmen fired at least 12 shots at the victims.

The suspects' vehicles were described as a white compact and a dark, possibly green vehicle, Medrano said.
