On Independence Day, join local Angelenos for a fireworks extravaganza put on at the LA Memorial Coliseum. Beginning at dusk (approximately 9pm), the fireworks show is set to go off for 45 whopping minutes! Talk about an exhilarating show! The event is actually a three-day Fourth of July carnival though. The annual Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks Show is held at Exposition Park, outside of the famed Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and will wrap up with one of the largest and longest fireworks shows in the state. The show attracts more than 20,000 visitors each year. The free, three day festival includes carnival rides, live music, food trucks, and more from noon to 10pm on July 2, 3 and 4.

Got little kids? A fun day at the beach is offered at this quaint little lagoon, filled with music, food and laughter. Arts and crafts, swimming and other fun activities for little kids begin early. A big slide obstacle course, DJ music and paddle board races fill the day with fun. Seaside lagoon food service is offered by Ruby’s Diner. Fireworks start at 9 p.m. over the water. Redondo Pier and other local beach areas can all see the display, so you don’t need a ticket into the lagoon to hang out and have your own private party under the stars. Just come early, pay for local parking and lay out your blanket for a picnic on the beach. The show is great from any spot on the beach!

Starting at around 9pm, join fellow Angelenos for a twenty minute fireworks extravaganza over the main channel in Marina del Rey. Choreographed to patriotic music, the fireworks will be shot from a barge in the Marina and will light up the sky and water below for a terrific show. Although the fireworks start at 9pm, make a night out of it by visiting many of the harbor side restaurants which will be offering a magnificent view of the light show. The fireworks will be set off between Fisherman’s Village and the Breakwater, so anywhere near the waterfront will offer great views. Parking lots tend to fill up around 6pm, so make sure to get there early!

This small amphitheater tucked between the hills of the Verdugo Mountains is the perfect place to celebrate the 4th of July. This underused outdoor venue is a favorite among TV executives and entertainment professionals, and will play host to The Kings of 88 on July 4th. The concert begins at 6:30pm, but it’s one of the coolest spots in L.A. to sit back on the grass and make a picnic. The cheap seats are all on a large, grassy area, up several tiers from the stage, but you really won’t miss anything. Just bring a picnic basket, the family and a blanket to enjoy the day. Like other shows, fireworks are set to begin when night falls.
