This is the second City Tavern location, which officially opened on February 4th. The new spot has expanded bar and food menus to complement the new, larger space, including a cocktail lounge and outdoor patio. Try the house-smoked salmon belly with pickled shallots and lemon crème fraîche, pan-seared cobia with with black lentils and roasted tomatoes, or the fried chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce, green tomato jam and pecans. Round out the meal with specialty cocktails and craft beers, in addition to the 28 beers on tap. Validated parking is available for the FIGat7th structure, but make it even easier on yourself and take the Metro which stops right at 7th Street/Metro Center station.

This festival began on Thursday, February 6th and continues through the 17th. It is an international showcase of more than 150 films from the African diaspora. Most screenings will take place at The Rave Cinemas, but several events will be held at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. Individual adult tickets are on sale for $12, students are $10 and seniors gain entry for $8. Check the festival's website for information on group sales, festival passes and special event tickets.

Gracias Madre started as a San Francisco institution, and now Los Angeles can boast its own. The vegan Mexican restaurant opened on January 17, and it has attracted the attention of vegan and carnivorous Angelenos alike. Now the restaurant offers happy hour, or La Hora Feliz, every Monday through Friday from 3-7p. Order specialty cocktails and beers at a low price for a couple of hours, including the margarita of the day, red and white wine and the El Burro with Mezcal, ginger beer and jalapeno jam. Prices range from $5-8, which is quite a deal for after work drinks.

Every second Thursday of the month, you can find some of the city's best food trucks parked near Third and Spring--smack in the middle of the Downtown Art Walk. The trucks vary each time, but expect the likes of The Melt, Haute Burger, The Fish Peddlers, Schmuck with a Truck, Mac-o-Licious and more. Grab some food, then pop into a few galleries to check out the art. Take the Metro down there, and avoid any parking headaches.

Sophisticated minds who appreciate French art and wine will love this event that combines a tour of the LACMA's French art collection and a tasting of five wines, each selected by Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, paired with cheese. Art historian Mary Lenihan will lead the tour beginning at 6p. General admission tickets are $100, with a $10 discount for LACMA members. Tickets may be purchased via phone or online.

The L.A. Zine Fest sets up shop at Helms Bakery for everyone who appreciates, follows or creates zines. The event goes from 10a-5p presenting guests with opportunities to network, mix and mingle and attend workshops and panels. Entry is free, although there is a suggested $1-5 donation. The new Expo Metro line is just steps away from Helms Bakery, so leave your car at home, and hop on the subway. Show a valid TAP card, Metrolink ticket, or LA County employee card at the L.A. Zine Fest information table for a free zine.
