It’s the season of love and if you’re looking for unique ways to celebrate that special person, check out the diverse events and happenings across the county. From themed days geared towards families with children to ultra-romantic celebrations, Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be confined to tradition.
It was named Orange County’s best romantic restaurant in 2011 and has an intimate charm and a unique ambiance unlike any other dining venue in area. Home to An’s Famous Garlic Noodles, the restaurant features Vietnamese and Asian fusion cuisine amidst a backdrop of contemporary, elegant Asian-infused architecture and design. This Valentine’s Day, you can celebrate with a quiet, romantic dinner as you savor the chef’s 5-Course Aphrodisiac Menu. The menu is available Friday February 10th through Tuesday February 14th. On Valentine’s evening, Flamenco Guitarist Walter Molina will provide entertainment.

Valentine's Day Sunset Whale Watching Cruise at Dana Wharf
Looking for an out-of-the box Valentine’s Day celebration? Why not take a romantic 2 hour cruise out of Dana Point for a scenic sunset cruise. Now is the ideal time for spotting dolphins, whales (who are currently in the midst of their annual southern migration to Baja, California), and other marine life. The cruise includes chocolates, Valentine’s Day treats, and a complimentary glass of champagne (there is also a cash bar. The harbor is home to a variety of restaurants to round out the evening. Newport Beach Valentine's Day Dinner Cruise
If you’re looking for a more inclusive way to celebrate the evening, Newport Beach Tours will offer a 3 hour Valentine’s Day Dinner Cruise complete with private candle-lit tables, champagne throughout the duration of the cruise, a 4-course dinner, live entertainment, and romantic views. Upon boarding the luxury yacht, guests will be greeted by the Captain. Cruises leave out of Newport Beach, Marina del Rey, and Long Beach.
Pretend City Children's Museum
Valentine’s Day centers around celebrating those you love, including the tiniest of tots. Pretend City Children’s Museum, the largest children’s museum in Orange County and the first educational facility in California to educate and entertain while serving as a community resource, will celebrate the day of love with a special themed story time, poetry play, games, and more. The event is free with museum admission and no RSVP is required.
Kids Can Cook: Valentine's Day

Looking for a family-friendly activity to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your child? Check out this hands-on cooking class with Chef Linda from The Basement Table, which offers cooking classes using local, organic, and ethically-produced foods. Tailored to children between the ages of 5 and 9, the class will teach them and their parents how to make delicious, sugar-free Valentine’s Day treats using natural sweeteners such as fruit and maple syrup. Old World Village Chocolate & Wine Festival
February 11th and 12th 2012
In traditional Valentine’s Day fashion, celebrate all weekend with sweets, treats, chocolates, wine, shopping, crafts, and more at this free, family-friendly festival. The themed festival will feature a wine garden, raffle prizes, bakers, candy makers, chocolatiers, and more. Built in 1978, the Old World Village was designed to introduce Americans to the beauty of Germany. The Village features cobblestone streets, colorful murals which depict scenes from 18 European countries, a church, a garden, a restaurant, and a market. Parking, admission and entertainment are free.
Valentine's Day Romantic Rendezvous
Casa Romantico overlooks the Pacific Ocean and was once the family home of co-founder Ole Hanson. Today, the Cultural Center and Gardens provides year-round educational programs for adults and children and tours of the historic estate and gardens. This Valentine’s Day, guests can dance to live music, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, champagne, and gourmet chocolates as a pre-dinner delight. Tickets are $40 per person or $20 per person when purchased in conjunction with a three-course Valentine’s Day dinner at Carbonara’s Trattoria Italiana ($50).
