Plan Check Kitchen + Bar
351 N Fairfax Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90036
If you want to drown your sorrows on the day of obligatory love, Plan Check invites you to dive right in. Make a beeline straight to Fairfax Village for an all-day happy hour (February 14 from 11:30am – 2am) offering 2 for $14 cocktail specials created by Matthew Biancaniello that will have you at “hello.”
His drinks are far from traditional, from the Ice Breaker (Japanese whisky, Batavia Arrak, lime juice, Monin agave syrup, passionfruit, ghost pepper salt, aloe vera chunks, and El Jimador) to the Fish Out of Water (bonito infused famous grouse, agave syrup, lemon, shiso). The kind folks at Plan Check welcome you to remake Valentines Day into a Friday of trying something unexpected.

The outrageous talent that is Jenny and Jimbob will repurpose it into a custom ring that is all about you. Sex and the City Zoo
5333 Zoo Drive
Los Angeles, CA 90027
For an evening that would make Samantha Jones proud, the LA Zoo and Botanical Gardens invites you to take a walk on the wild side. This adults-only (21+) affair starts with a reception and “animal walk-abouts” with keepers who’ll get you up close and personal with some of the zoo’s small inhabitants.
Then things really get interesting, with a musical performance followed by a presentation of raw, primal instincts of the animal kingdom. Everything from animal mating, and dating will be presented by former LA Zoo general curator Michael Dee. An optional dinner is available to close out the evening (for an additional fee).
Proceeds from this annual event support GLAZA, which funds plant and animal exhibits, species conservation, capital projects, education and community outreach, and many other programs at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
