Best Skate Parks In Los Angeles

Some people use their skateboards to get from one Los Angeles destination to another in lieu of driving their car or taking the bus. Others simply prefer to skate simply for the sake of skating in a location reserved for such fun. No problem. The City of Angels has plenty of fine skate parks to offer. The following are five of the best that Los Angeles has to offer.

Also called Santa Monica Skatepark and part of the larger and well respected Memorial Park, fans of fancy tricksters are mesmerized from the outside fence of this 20,000 square foot outpost, drawing in daring boarders, bikers and in-line skaters. A pool with tiles is the main attraction here, as are clover bowls with a 13-foot pocket. This skate park has been around for more than a decade and has become one of the most coveted skate parks in all of sunny Southern California; so don't delay your next visit.

What skater wouldn't appreciate a mighty snake run that leads to a major bowl complete with a trusty love seat? Not ready for that yet? Instructors on hand will help you get there by teaching you to eventually take on this fully equipped, 15,000 square foot concrete environment with ease. Note that if you're 17 or younger, you're required to present your parent or guardian's official signature before taking on the Verdugo Skate Park.

This select section's ledge and big wall make for a fast and furious leap in a skater's paradise where serious participants from all over the Golden State can't wait to check out.

Tricky moves are captured on video at Venice Skatepark, giving everyone who wants to see what's up there a way to do so via a live feed: A great way to know how many skaters are on hand at any given time at this outrageous outpost. This amenity also gives those who are showing their stuff to the entire world a way to do so, which is amazing since it was in Los Angeles that this sport first became a huge athletic endeavor back in the 1970's. Set against the roaring Pacific, Venice Skatepark boasts a section with stairs and a sunken pool; both huge attractions for serious skaters.
