Trump National sits on the edge of the Pacific Ocean on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It has the distinction of being the world's only golf course designed by Trump himself. It is 18-holes, par 71 and has five sets of tees, each with an ocean view. The course layout challenges both experienced golfers and novices and your outing might include some mist from one of the three waterfalls. The Academy at Trump National offers a wide variety of game improvement options for juniors on up.

Riverside, CA 92509

The Oak Quarry, 18-hole, par 72, course winds its way through the historic Jensen Quarry. The unique, jagged scenery provides golfers with some interesting features, including a number of elevated tees. Anyone who has played here agrees that the greens "have a funny play" to them and that you might want to get some tips on before teeing off. This course also tends to get very hot at certain times of the year, so be forewarned if you are heading inland and weren't expecting the warmth.

Pelican Hill Golf Club

22701 Pelican Hill Rd. South
Newport Coast, CA 92657
(949) 467-6800

Pelican Hill actually has two 18-hole golf courses, Pelican Hill-North (par 71) and Pelican Hill-South (par 70). Both courses receive strong praise, however, most recent reports seem to favor the North course. Pelican Hill offers a Forecaddie Program, included with the green fees. It's like having your own personal course expert on hand to point out the nuances. Considering the fees here are quite pricey, you do seem to get what you pay for. The Golf Academy offers an extensive list of offerings for juniors on up.
