We’re not entirely too sure who and or how these National celebratory days are assigned, but when it comes to devoting an entire day to the gloriously cool concoction of adding chocolate ice cream to milk in a blender – it’s hard to be cynical. The milkshake, arguably, is the quintessential comfort food. Generally speaking, it works as a treat after winning the class spelling bee, it works as a vessel of romance on a first date (with two straws of course), and it pairs well with tasty burger on a Summer day. Both young and old, it’s impossible to indulge in a chocolate milkshake and not crack a smile. So, we felt that there was no better reason to celebrate than that – here are a few places in Orange County where the chocolate milkshake celebration is taken especially serious.
204 N Harbor Blvd
Fullerton, CA 92832
Gourmet chef turned local hero, Joseph Mahon, went from 4-star dining in the South of France to banging out gourmet burgers with his renowned less is more approach at Burger Parlor. When it comes to the frosty accoutrements however, classic flavors come to life with just a spin of the blender. The chocolate milkshake here tackles the graham cracker and marshmallow goodness of the S’more. The timeless campfire treat served cold and flowing through a straw is pretty much near heavenly.
292 N Glassell St
Orange, CA 92866
This waffle sandwich authority actually does the milkshake with the same consistency and perfection. In fact, Bruxie earned national acclaim as the restaurant’s shake selection was named one of America’s best milkshakes by USA Today. Next time you stop by Bruxie to eat one of their delicious sweet or savory waffles, make your meal complete with one of their shakes. Offered in several traditional flavors such as Vanilla, Chocolate, Dulce De Leche and more, they take it one step further by making their premium shakes, including offerings like their “Belgium Chocolate” milkshake which is one of the best around. With a smooth and ultra chocolatey flavor, it keeps customers coming back time and time again. Other favorites include their premium blend Bruxie’s Chocolate covered banana shake which comes complete with the sides coated in chocolate syrup. It’s everything a frozen banana would be in shake form and it’s simply delicious. Bruxie doesn’t stop there though. They offer other flavors such as Mocha, Mint Chocolate and Chocolate Peanut Butter.
Ruby’s Shake Shack
7703 East Coast Hwy
Newport Coast, CA 92657
It’s the harmonious combination of surroundings and simplicity that makes Ruby’s Shake Shack an ace for this list. Chocolate ice cream, milk and blend are poured into a large cup making it pure perfection for either yourself or sharing with your special someone while strolling the sandy shores of Crystal Cove. In truth, the experience is backed by the fact that Ruby’s does nail their shakes, all while never having to over think what goes into the mix. Make it better by pairing this delicious treat with a tasty burger and fries!
