St. Patrick’s Day is March 17 — a day when everyone is at least a little bit Irish. St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day marks his death. The cultural and religious holiday is often commemorated with parades, parties and, of course, lots of delicious Irish beer. Los Angeles doesn’t have the abundant Irish population of other US cities, such as Boston, but that doesn’t stop the City of Angels from partying Dublin-style. Even if you can’t find a lucky four-leaf clover, you can find a bar near you to celebrate right. Here are some of the best Irish bars to celebrate this festive holiday.

Casey’s Irish Pub
613 S. Grand Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90017

For cheap drinks and live music, Casey’s is a popular go-to Irish pub in downtown LA. Food options consist of classic Irish dishes like fish and chips, shepherd’s pie and yummy potato wedges, to name a few examples. Drinks include a bountiful list of Guinness options, like a Black Russian, which consists of Guinness and champagne. Low prices on both food and drink selections make Casey’s an affordable Irish option for all.

Tom Bergin’s Tavern
840 S. Fairfax Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90036
(323) 936-7151

With an atmosphere reminiscent of an authentic UK pub, Tom Bergin’s Tavern welcomes patrons with shamrocks galore. English cider fans will be pleased to know that Tom Bergin’s serves Blackthorn Cider. The tavern also happens to be a great spot for catching a game, as it’s adorned with TVs. Hot bites including tender beef and salty fish and chips have regulars coming back time and time again. This isn’t your typical Irish pub food, as the quality and flavors go above and beyond to pleasure your taste buds.

Finn McCools
2702 Main St
Santa Monica, CA 90405
(310) 452-1734
www.finnmccoolsirishpub.com

If you’re dying to get to homeland on St. Patty’s Day and celebrate the occasion in Ireland itself, save yourself the airfare and head in to Finn McCools. You can have a conversation with a true Irish man or woman at Finn’s, as staff is as authentically Irish as they come. Even the bar itself is Irish — as in it used to be in Dublin, Ireland and now is here in sunny LA. Food and drink do not disappoint and stay true to Irish roots. There isn’t anything missing from the menu here.

Dillon’s Irish Pub & Grill
6263 Hollywood Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90028
(323) 315-9744

The next time you’re cruising down Hollywood Boulevard, thinking there’s no Irish pub in sight, remember Dillon’s. This place literally has a continuous countdown going on, watching the seconds pass until the clock strikes 12 and St. Patrick’s Day is finally upon us. Dillon’s hasn’t forgotten where they are. Although they offer the traditional Irish dishes, they realize they are still in LALA Land, after all. Therefore they welcome SoCal health nuts by offering items such as hummus, in addition to their fried fish. Catering to the locals makes Dillon’s the perfect place to go for a pint and some stew and bring your native friends with you.

Jameson’s Irish Pub
6681 Hollywood Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90028
(323) 798-5360
www.jamesonsirishpub.com

Most Angelenos are probably shocked that there’s even one Irish pub on Hollywood Boulevard, let alone two! It’s true! In addition to Dillon’s, Jameson’s Irish Pub is also on famed Hollywood Boulevard and actually has Jameson itself on tap. There’s plenty of screen to please every sports fan, and the food and drink menus won’t disappoint, either. Don’t expect true Irish authenticity here, as Jameson’s is a bit more Americanized, offering food selections such as Irish Nachos — and games of beer pong. Nevertheless, Jameson’s is the perfect place to party on St. Patty’s Day with a mix of Irish and American fun.
