Indian food is a cuisine that some people shy away from because it can be too spicy. Other people embrace the spice and the layers of flavor found in Indian cuisine. If you embrace the spice of Indian food (especially buffets), Orange County has a lot of great options where you can find it.

Tucked in a shopping center right near Irvine Valley College, Clay Oven is a real easy place to miss. When you walk in, you’ll see that this spot is the very definition of cozy. It’s small, warm and filled with the wonderful scents of the food. The lunch buffet offers amazing options for vegetarians and carnivores alike. If you do go for lunch (from 11am to 2pm daily), know that the place starts to fill up around 11:30 a.m. Be sure to finish your meal with the delicious rice pudding.

If you are in the mood for Indian food, but you don’t have a lot of time, Tandoori Fresh is the place to go. Here you can get all of your Indian favorites (be sure to try the naan) in a casual atmosphere and for a low price. The most expensive item on the menu is only $10 and it’s hard to find lunch anywhere in the county for that reasonable of a price. Tandoori Fresh also offers takeout.

Dosa Place doesn’t just offer options for vegetarians and carnivores. It also has options for people that specifically want south Indian dishes like a madhu veda (a doughnut made with lentil flour). Saagar Fine Cuisine of India
4241 MacArthur Blvd.
Newport Beach, CA 92660
(949) 955-1904
www.saagarcuisineofindia.com

If you can’t find something you want to try at Saagar, it’s certainly not because the menu is limited. Here you can find the usual chicken and lamb dishes, but you also find lobster and quail. While other places may offer a prix fixe menu for special occasions, Saagar offers a combination meal (vegetarian or non-vegetarian) for two people for a reasonable price. Speaking of vegetarian, this is an excellent place to bring your vegetarian friends. They will be impressed with the many flavorful options available.
