Not all golf instruction is created equal, especially when the students are children. Orange County offers numerous kid-specific schools, excellent age-appropriate training at full service courses, and even quite a few fun summer golf camps for your little ones. Kids of nearly all ages can begin to hone their birdie-making skills, and lessons aren’t always as expensive as you might believe. Get ready to hit the links with your kids in tow!

The Orange County Golf Academy prides itself on preparing Juniors at every level of the game. From those who have never picked up a set of clubs, to intermediate and advanced players, this Academy takes them all; youngsters as young as 4 can begin taking lessons. Not sure if golf is the sport for you? Walk-ins are welcome for single lessons each Friday at their Friday Junior Clinic from 4 to 5 p.m. for only $10 a lesson. A summer camp is also available for kids interested in a more in-depth program.

Kids can take part in group or private lessons, giving parents flexibility and budget control. One of Orange County’s most esteemed public courses, Mile Square Golf Course also offers top notch junior instruction. Each one of their coaches is certified to teach at a junior level; both individual and group instruction is available for kids as young as 5. A summer long, Junior Golf Camp is offered for a very reasonable $95 per camper and offers each child a week of instruction, hat, shirts, towel, tees, balls, instruction booklets, and a post-instruction pizza party and open golf on the course.

A very special program for very young children, Tiny Tees Golf program helps kids ages 3 to 7 work on golf skills and overall coordination. Since its inception in 2000, the program has gained popularity and classes fill up quickly. Golf clubs are provided as needed, and custom clubs are available for purchase starting at just $20 a club. Instruction takes place at one of three Southern California locations, including the Talega Golf Club in San Clemente, at the Pechanga Resort near Temecula, and at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. Special programs and referrals are available for kids ages 8 to 13.
