Now through October 28, celebrate German culture at the 35th Oktoberfest in Huntington Beach. Not only will beer be imported from Germany, but also will the bands playing at the event, including Struwwwelpeter and Schwaubapower. And of course, Oktoberfest wouldn’t be complete without bratwursts, sauerkraut and pretzels, which will also be available at the festival. Wednesday evening is family night and admission is free. Check out the 24th Annual Taste of Newport during the weekend of September 14-16. The event will provide food from some of Newport’s best restaurants, wine from several of California’s top wineries, tasty cocktails, beer and live entertainment. This year, Andy Grammer, Blondie, Devo and Roger Hodgson: The Legendary Voice of Supertramp will be performing on stage. Children under eight years old will have free admission and tickets purchased online will be sold at a discount. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $25 and VIP tickets will be available for the stage performances.

On Sunday, September 30 from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., the Orange County Children’s Book Festival will give children of all ages the opportunity to buy autographed books, take part in face painting, try out some crazy hair styles, create book marks and more. There will also be a main stage area that will have celebrity authors speak about their books. The Global Village Festival will be held on September 29 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and will showcase a variety of international dance and music performances, art exhibits, offer activities for children and provide over 50 food trucks with an array of international food. Some options include Japanese dumplings, Chinese pastries, Persian kabobs, Korean Mexican fusion tacos, German pretzels, American-style hot dogs and Chinese dim sum. Celebrating cultural diversity and harmony, the festival will also host a “Walk for Unity” 5K walk at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event.
