Whether you are a devoted disc golf lover or have not played it at all yet, you are in for a treat. Orange County provides some of the very best, most classic courses for discovering the world of this inexpensive, enjoyable outdoor activity. The best courses offer little extras including leagues of their own and amenities galore.

While all you technically need are some nets and a disc, the Huntington Beach Disc Golf course makes the experience extra special and is widely considered one of the best locations in the area. Located off of I-405, the exact location is on Golden West Street, between Talbert and Ellis on the west side of the street. With more than 5,000 square feet of play space close to the beach, Huntington Beach Central Park defines disc golf heaven. It is home to special tournaments, amateur leagues and anyone who just wants to play 18 awesome holes.

East of Huntington Beach sits the smaller, nine-hole Frontier Park course in Tustin. A consideration with frisbee golf at Frontier Park is that it may be a good idea to bring discs. Generally, discs can be purchased in Orange County at many sporting goods stores or at local disc golf specialty stores such as the Discovering the World store in Buena Park. Be sure to explore Frontier Park’s actual frontier as well, this is one of the most gorgeous areas the O.C. has to offer disc golfers.

Twila-Reid Park provides an informal, nine-hole disc golf course as one of the available activities in this family friendly park. Discs are not provided, but there are two nets there for use. This course is a great option for a more casual approach to discovering the game. Take advantage of the children’s play area, picnic shelters, barbecue facilities, an activities center and a horseshoe course to make a day out of this visit to Twila-Reid.

Located on a grassy area in Prado Regional Park next to Prado Lake, this well-designed, 18-hole course works well for beginners, especially those who enjoy an outdoorsy atmosphere with great views. This distinctive park area is located in the Chino Valley basin where the Orange, Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside counties come together. Also enjoy the fishing, picnic facilities, biking and hiking opportunities in this expansive park.

The legendary La Mirada Disc Golf Club takes the sport seriously. The club holds weekly and monthly tournaments at the impressive, 18-hole and 27-hole La Mirada Park courses north of Anaheim. Many disc golf experts enthusiastically refer to La Mirada as the best of the impressive group of courses in the Orange County area. The club is a strong resource with an active community of devoted members.
