We are lucky to live in Southern California where we are surrounded by the best museums and kid’s activities in the country. Here are some of the best exhibits you must see with your kids.
The Pacific Battleship Center - USS Iowa BB-61
The USS Iowa was first launched on August 27, 1942 which First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt attended. The USS Iowa is the only ship of her class to have served in the Atlantic Ocean during World War II. The USS Iowa is now in San Pedro at the Pacific Battleship Center where she sits to inspire and educate as a living monument.
Columbia Memorial Space Center
There isn’t just one single exhibit that is cool at the Columbia Memorial Space Center to see with your kids, you must see all of them! The “Great Balls of Fire!” exhibit will be on display until September 16th 2012. However, you can check out the permanent exhibits anytime! The Space Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10-5pm and Saturdays from 11-3pm.
Kidspace Museum – Galvin Physics Forest
Take your kids to a real treat at the Kidspace Museum Galvin Physics Forest exhibit! The Galvin Physics Forest exhibit consists of 13 hands on exhibits that will inspire and thrill you and your children’s love of science.
The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County – Dinosaur Hall
Inside the gorgeous and expansive Dinosaur Hall is over 300 real fossils and 20 complete dinosaurs and ancient sea creatures. Included is the T. rex growth series which is the only trio of different aged T. rex specimens in the world. The Skirball Cultural Center – Noah’s Ark
The Noah’s ark exhibit at The Skirball Cultural Center is a gorgeous hand-made exhibit that hopes to inspire its guests to gather and work together. Inside a floor-to-ceiling wooden ark, filled to the rafters with whimsical animals, you and your family will play, build, climb, explore, make music and have tons of fun!
California Science Center – Cleopatra The Exhibition
The very popular California Science Center is proud to host the only West-Coast showing of Cleopatra The Exhibition. This limited time only 13,000-square-foot exhibit features the largest collection of Cleopatra-era artifacts from Egypt ever assembled in the U.S.
