Owned and operated by a husband and wife, Newport Fresh is an off-beat sushi restaurant at the base of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach. It is best known for its unique combination of serving eel sushi, pork katsu and foot-long Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. From a diner's perspective, it seems like an odd pairing for a restaurant theme. However, the mind power behind this menu knows how to make great food. Read the panels on the wall describing Asian cuisine followed by one about cheesesteaks. Then, grab a seat and enjoy one of its 11 cheesesteak sandwiches. The teriyaki chicken cheesesteak ties in the Asian influence and oozes with Newport Fresh's sauce, cheese, mushrooms, caramelized onions and green peppers inside a soft chewy roll.
