In what has become one of the most anticipated parties of the year, Los Angeles' KROQ always goes over the top for their annual costume ball. They may have outdone themselves this time as they have invited a little band by the name of the Red Hot Chili Peppers to play an intimate show at the Fonda. Keep in mind, this is band that could easily sell out the Forum, Staples Center, etc. In addition to the blockbuster performance from rock royalty, the stations own DJ Jeremiah Red of the ROQ N BEATS mix show will be handling the soundtrack for a party that has become the hottest ticket of the Halloween weekend. There will be a proper contest where the best costume could walk with cash and prizes. However, if you are lucky enough to get in, you have already won.

Comic conventions are big business, but when you have a comic legend like Stan Lee helming it, it's expected that the bar be raised considerably. In just it's fifth year, the convention has amassed an attendance of some 75,000 devoted fans as the gathering is becoming a pilgrimage. Changing its name from Comikaze to the Stan Lee Los Angeles Comcic Con, the event is positioned as a meld of medium: comics, video games, sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. Part of the reason the convention continues to resonate with fans, aside from the credibility of Lee, is the focus on not any one vehicle of pop culture, but all of them combined. The 2015 event saw some 700-plus vendors, exhibitors, and artists line the convention floor. A joint venture between Stan Lee and Elvira the Mistress of the Dark, this is pop-culture convention operated by actual pop culture icons. Flexing some real clout, it's easy to see how the very best in the industry would jump to be a part of this.

Festival Supreme
The Shrine
665 W Jefferson Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90007
www.festivalsupreme.com

In just it's fourth production, Festival Supreme has become the standard bearer for festivals that are looking to marry comedy and music. When your Master of Ceremonies are Jack Black and Kyle Gass, the meld of melody and hilarity is downright organic. The roster of talent for the third installment of Supreme is a hefty one. The pairing of artists like the Vandals and Mac DeMarco, make complete sense on paper when they are next to the likes of Fred Armiston, Sarah Silverman, and Eric Andre. The mesh of music and comedy affords being able to take added creative freedom. In fact, the tandem of Jack and Kyle would normally be the guitar-wielding Tenacious D. However, for Festival Supreme the duo are actually billed as Tenacious DJ. At its core, Festival Supreme is the combination of people with a good sense of humor and great taste in music. Surround yourself with good company.

Showcasing the cultural relevance of tradition that dates back to Aztec civilization, the central focus revolves around the altar and its symbolic connection with those that have passed. The art and the shines that have grown into the dozens for this event all function as a monument to loved ones that gone, but not forgotten. Consistent with that sentiment, the festival also offers live music, a host of street vendors, and a spirited competition in which the best altars are recognized by a panel of judges.
