The California desert will be overflowing with millennials and celebs, which means the rest of LA is a little less crowded and prime to be explored. If Coachella just isn't your thing, Los Angeles is never at a loss for things to do, see, taste, hear, etc. From the beach to the valley, there is always something happening that is newsworthy. Remember the classic animated version of Mowgli and Baloo frolicking about the jungle and singing toe-tapping ditties? Well, director Jon Favreau took a few creative liberties with his retelling of the Disney classic and the film looks incredible. To celebrate the release of the latest version of the film, the El Capitan theater is rolling out the red carpet and even brought in live music from The Side Street Strutters Jazz Band that regularly performs at Disneyland. The band will be playing music from the Sherman Brothers who crafted the score to the 1967 version of the Jungle Book. Here is your chance to see a timeless film re-imagined in an iconic Hollywood movie house.

NoFX Wrote A Book!
Book Soup
8818 Sunset Blvd
West Hollywood, CA 90069
(310) 659-3110
www.theatricumbooksoupcom

For nearly 30 years NoFX has penned an incredibly prolific punk music catalog. Champions of the DIY ethic that is the cornerstone of the genre, the band is a foul-mouthed beacon of solid work ethic, business savvy, and legendary partying. It only makes sense that the band has now decided to jump into the literary category and release a tell-all book documenting the existence of NoFX. Fortified with the band's signature humor, there are real stories of some seedy slices of life on the road. On each end of the spectrum there are tales of Japanese organized crime bosses and suicide, mixed in with some potty humor naturally. The band will be signing copies of the book this weekend. There will be red cups.

Rather than work to thwart the Heavy Metal Parking Lot party that is going to happen anyway, the Forum is opening the gates early and welcoming Iron Maiden fans for a pre-game session that is sure to include lots of beer, lots of long hair, and plenty of Maiden. To celebrate the second of two sold out nights at the Forum with legendary metal institution Iron Maiden, the Tailgate party will include food, music, and giveaways to build the anticipation for Bruce Dickinson and the boys. You must have a ticket to the show to enjoy the tailgate party, but you really shouldn't need additional incentives to see Iron Maiden at least once before you die.

Cruise the Boardwalk
Hermosa Beach Pier
Pier Ave, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
www.hermosabch.com

Living in Southern California means we are fortunate enough to always be close to the water. Dotting the coastline there are several piers, but only a few of them have the kind of thriving social scene Hermosa Beach Pier does. Home to a healthy mix of restaurants, retail shops, and the occasional gallery, the walk about the waves is an even better experience when you can come off the pier and enjoy what surrounds it. From the regular beach volleyball tournaments that happening on the sand to the live music and special events that seem to make their way to Hermosa, the pier is the perfect place to be on a weekend regardless of the reason.
