A lot of people like to stay in for New Year’s Eve. Those people like to call it amateur night. Well, if you’re not that jaded and you still like to celebrate the new year, you have some very good options. Some of them are family friendly, others – like a party on a yacht with an open bar – most certainly are not. If you have not made your plans to ring in 2015, look into these great celebrations in Orange County.

If you have kids, then your days of staying out until the wee hours of New Year’s Day are probably behind you. That doesn’t mean that you have to stop celebrating the occasion, however. First Night Fullerton is a family-friendly event which features activities for kids, food and is capped off with a fireworks show at midnight. To make this event even more appealing, you’ll hear music from local favorites Kid Ramos, James Intveld and Deke Dickerson and the Eccofonics. This event is from 7pm until midnight.

If you’re looking for a memorable way to kick off your new year, a yacht party is a pretty good way to do it. The yacht for this party launches from Newport Harbor. The cost for this party is $140, which includes an open bar all night long and an appetizer buffet. You can dance on the second or third deck, the latter of which allows you to dance under the stars. This event has sold out every year, so get your tickets as soon as you can.

An Italian restaurant may seem an unlikely place for a New Year’s Eve celebration. However, for this occasion, Romeo Cucina is different than your standard Italian restaurant. For this occasion, you can reserve and hold your table all night. The party begins at 9pm with an open menu created just for this event. After dinner, you can dance in this place that is sort of transformed from a restaurant to a night club.

Discovery Cube

Santa Ana, CA 92705

A great event for kids, this celebration (also called Noon Year’s Eve), begins in the day time. After all, most kids don’t get to stay up until midnight to welcome in the new year. At Discovery Cube, kids can celebrate in the middle of the day with learning stations. And yes, the kids get a New Year’s toast here – with ginger ale.
