Each year, a new crop of stores pops into town. It’s those that make a fashion and accessory impact on Los Angeles natives that gain the privilege of sticking around. Here are some of the best that opened up shop in 2013.

The international fashion crusade continues to wow Los Angeles. In early 2013, Topshop debuted its British styles at its first West Coast store at The Grove L.A. which claims a 25,000-square-foot store with 40-foot ceilings. The UK-based brand features the trendiest wear from across the pond including both women’s fashions and accessories, as well as men’s options under the name Topman. In addition, Topshop gives students 10 percent off all year long. Students simply present their Student Advantage Card at the cash register. Finding the perfect tee is easy at Marine Layer. What started out as a quest for finding comfortable favorite t-shirts soon became a viable business in the relaxed mecca of SoCal as Marine Layer is the epitome of laid back. This Abbot Kinney bloomer in Venice encourages its customers to come into the T-shop and get touchy-feely with all of its styles. Can’t make it there? Go online to the store’s website, pop in your information and it will send you a swatch of the custom fabric blend of pima cotton and micromodal. And, you can keep it, sleep with it or worship it until you buy a t-shirt of your own. Check out the Striped Martha Shirt featuring indigo and red or the super-soft Birdseye Infinity Scarf, which is made from bird’s eye terry cloth.

Recently debuting in November, Sugarfina is the first “adult” candy store where you will find all kinds of treats. The sweet candy creations for confection connoisseurs are absolutely delightful. Collections range from a “Chocolate Martini Gift Set” to an “Breakup Gift Set” with candies including “Plenty of Fish in the Sea” (all-natural Swedish Fish), “Men are Pigs” (gummy piglets) and “Stop Kissing Frogs” (apple frogs).

Also opening recently in Glendale is JustFab’s first brick-and-mortar boutique.
