Week 2: Dallas Cowboys At Seattle Seahawks

Dallas Cowboys v New York Giants Seattle Seahawks v Kansas City Chiefs

Cowboys

Seahawks

The heat is on Tony Romo and he came through with a solid effort in the Cowboys’ Week One victory over the Giants. When Romo is on his game, he can buy time with his feet and throw a soft, catchable ball that can result in big plays. Quarterback Russell Wilson did not look out of place in his first game and had the Seahawks in a position to pull off a road win in Week One. While he failed to come through in the final drive, he has excellent mobility, accuracy and sufficient arm strength.
DeMarco Murray is a good enough back that he can carry the Cowboys offense when Romo is not on his game. Wide receiver Dez Bryant may be a total diva, but he can’t be stopped one-on-one and he will make big plays with great frequency. Offense Marshawn Lynch is a runner who can break off a big play and he can also handle a heavy workload. Braylon Edwards was a big part of the gameplan against the Cardinals, while Sidney Rice can be a big-play wideout.
The Cowboys are very tough against the run and will try to limit Lynch’s ability to establish Seattle’s ground game. Linebacker DeMarcus Ware may be the best defensive player in the league and he will try to punish Wilson. Defense Defensive end Chris Clemons got off to a great start as he recorded a sack and forced a fumble against the Cardinals. The key to Seattle’s defense is its overall aggressiveness. While they usually go hard at home, they will become tentative when they get hit with a couple of big plays early..
Felix Jones appears to have slowed down and may not be an explosive factor on kickoff returns. Bryant should be somewhat better on punt returns. Chris Jones is a solid directional punter who got surprising distance (54.0) on two punts against the Giants. Special Teams Leon Washington is one of the most underrated players in the league. He has been a special-teams killer for years and he averaged 44.3 yards on three punt returns and 28.0 yards on two kickoff return against Arizona.

The winner is

Dallas Cowboys v New York Giants
Cowboys
3 out of 4

The Cowboys overcame a huge hurdle in beating the defending Super Bowl champions on the road. However, there is plenty for them to prove. They need to show they are mentally tough enough to turn a good game into a winning streak or a positive trend. The Seahawks should get an emotional effort in their home opener.
