College Football Week 14: #2 Alabama Vs. #3 Georgia

#2 Alabama
#3 Georgia
Auburn v Alabama
Georgia Southern v Georgia
Coaching
Winner Nick Saban doesn’t like that the loser of this game will get passed by Florida for a BCS bowl bid. Of course Florida would rather have the chance to get to the national championship, as Alabama does.
Like Alabama, Georgia crushed its in-state rival last weekend. Now the Bulldogs are one win away from playing for a national championship.
Offense
Alabama was absolutely dominant against Auburn in the Iron Bowl. The Tide gained 483 yards and converted 11 of 14 third downs.
Winner The Bulldogs didn’t put up huge numbers last week, but they were incredibly efficient. Moving the ball against Alabama will be much more difficult, but Georgia has the weapons.
Defense
Winner Alabama held Auburn to 163 yards, but Georgia’s balanced attack will provide a much stiffer challenge.
Georgia’s D can match Alabama’s as far as individual talent and will be counted on for another big game.
Special Teams
Winner The Tide is eight overall in the Football Outsiders special teams rankings.
The Bulldogs’ special teams are middle-of-the-road; they are weighed down by poor punting and punt returning.

The Winner Is

Auburn v Alabama
Winner #2 Alabama
3 out of 4

Georgia made it this far last year and was smacked by LSU in the SEC title game. They are better prepared this year, but they are still underdogs.

Tale Of The Tape: Arizona Cardinals At San Francisco 49ers

It’s a good thing the Cardinals have their playoff berth locked up, because the offense has lost its drive after losing quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton to injuries.

Tale Of The Tape: Oakland Raiders At Denver Broncos

The Raiders have certainly shown some life in the second half of the season, and while it most likely won’t be enough to help Tony Sparano shed the interim label and become the full-time head coach, he does deserve credit for not letting this team give up.

Tale Of The Tape: St. Louis Rams At Seattle Seahawks

The Rams offense functioned at a much higher level in their Week 16 loss to the Giants with Shaun Hill at quarterback, and he is coming off a confidence-boosting 24-of-32 game for 290 yards with 2 TDs and 1 interception.
