Los Angeles has crumbling sidewalks in need of repair, but a plan to fix them won’t make a lot of homeowners happy.
City Council has yet to spend $27 million which was set aside to fund the 40,000 miles of required city-wide sidewalk repairs.
“I am thrilled that we are finally making some progress on addressing the downright embarrassing condition of our sidewalks,” said Councilman Joe Buscaino.
In order to move forward with repairing nearly half of Los Angeles’ sidewalks, a Los Angeles City councilmember proposed a motion that private businesses would share the cost of repairs with the city.
