Juan Fernandez
Juan Fernandez joined CBS 2 News as a general assignment reporter in January 1996.
These days Fernandez wears many different hats. He reports for various editions of CBS 2 News. He also anchors and even does the weather when duty calls.
Before coming to Los Angeles, Fernandez was a general assignment reporter at WSVN-TV, Miami, FL. Prior to WSVN, he served as general assignment reporter for WLTV/Univision in Miami for January 1991-1994. He also spent some time with the Telemundo magazine/variety show “Contacto.”
Fernandez is a recipient of the Golden Mike award for best 30-minute newscast. He has also been honored by the Los Angeles County Office of Education for his participation in Hispanic Heritage events.
Fernandez is fluent in Spanish. He is an advocate of the importance of learning more than one language and is a champion for literacy. He often mentors students who want to pursue a career in broadcasting.
Fernandez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Broadcast Journalism from Florida International University.
