Deputies: Man Kills Grandmother, Injures Mother In Palmdale Double Stabbing

PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 29-year-old man killed his 82-year-old grandmother and injured his mother in a double stabbing at a Palmdale home Thursday afternoon.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reports that about 3:30 p.m., the suspect's mother called 911 to report the stabbings.

Deputies arrived at the home in the 37000 block of Springfield Street to find the suspect outside covered in blood and his wounded mother at the door. The suspect's grandmother was found dead inside the home from stab wounds to the upper body.

The suspect's mother was rushed to a hospital in unknown condition. The suspect was detained at the home. No names were released.

"He appeared to be somewhat incoherent, he was rambling on," said Sgt. Troy Ewing with the LASD Homicide Bureau. "He did make some statement kind of incriminating himself and being involved in the incident."

The suspect and his grandmother lived in the house and his mother lived nearby, deputies said.

Sheriff's investigators are trying to determine if the suspect was under the influence of intoxicants or has any mental issues. There was no immediate word on a possible motive.
