Police Search For Suspect Who Fatally Shot Gas Station Clerk In Los Feliz

LOS FELIZ (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives searched for a suspect Tuesday who fatally shot a gas station clerk in Los Feliz.

The shooting was reported just before 5:30 a.m. at a Chevron station located in the 2100 block of Vermont Avenue, according to police.

Upon their arrival, authorities located the clerk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

A co-worker who asked not to be identified said the victim was a 22-year-old student from Bangladesh who had only recently begun working at the gas station.

Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where he later died. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect bought an item, then waited for another customer to leave before attempting to rob the clerk.

The suspect shot the victim multiple times and stole money from the cash register, police said.

The suspect fled from the scene in a light-colored car.

The victim dialed 911 and was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The store manager said there are 16 cameras inside the store and 16 cameras outside.

Police had not released a photo of the suspect on Tuesday afternoon.
