Suspect, 26, Reportedly Confesses To 5 Vehicle Break-In Burglaries Outside Irvine Gym

IRVINE (CBSLA.com)  —  The Irvine Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect involved in at least five vehicle burglaries outside an LA Fitness in Irvine.

Ramtin Kadkhodayan, 26, of Granada Hills was arrested early Friday morning following a residential burglary on Trabuco Avenue.

Around 2 a.m.  Friday, a resident in the Windrow Apartments reported that he heard the sound of glass breaking, and when he looked into his garage saw that the window of his vehicle had been broken. He reported that his neighbor's car window had also been busted.

A short time later, Irvine Police encountered Kadkhodayan in a nearby Kohl's shopping center parking lot. The officers saw injuries on the suspect's hands consistent with cuts from broken glass. They gained consent to search the suspect and located items including a flashlight and a drill bit.

At that time, Kadkhodayan allegedly admitted to the two break-ins that night, as well as to a vehicle burglary committed six weeks earlier at the LA Fitness at 3960 Barranca. He was arrested and taken to the Irvine Police Department.

After arriving at IPD, Kadkhodayan was further questioned and allegedly confessed to four other vehicle burglaries at LA Fitness on December 14.

Anyone with info on this case is asked to contact Detective Keith Herter at  (949) 724-7183 or kherter@cityofirvine.org.
