It's Snowing Dollars In One Mountain Area

WRIGHTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The Brazelton family has owned the Evergreen Cafe in Wrightwood for 12 years and were glad to hear a forecast of snow and cold.

Their daughter has her own financial forecast.

"A lot of people are gonna come into the restaurant and it's gonna be very busy, and everyone in town is going to drive like crazy" Amanda Brazelton said.

Those not used to driving in this weather might scare the locals, but its the out-of-towners that drive the Wrightwood economy.  People in the small town packed with shops and restaurants are glad to see the visitors.

"Friday and Saturday were both awesome just with the cold weather coming in." Shelby Rasmussen, of the Willow Boutique & Salon said.  "It was great for the business, great for the town,"

The big draw will be Mountain high ski resort for snowboarders and skiiers when it opens Tuesday.

You don't have to ski or snowboard to have a lot of fun.  Take it from screaming snow bunny Alisa Lora. Her family drove up from El Monte.

"The snow is really fun and you can play with the snow," Lora said.

Jessica Gonzalez thought it was time for her friends from West Covina to see snow for the first time.

"It's cold but I love," Kennedy Williams said

Hearing snow was headed here. One family from Hawaii quickly included a side trip here on their California vacation. The family of six spent around a couple hundred dollars on their snowy detour.

Another family of six made the trip from Northridge for a Sunday in the snow and said they plan to spend about $200-$250 as well.
