Suspect Killed, Officer Hospitalized Following Shooting In Santa Ana
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A deadly officer-involved shooting has occurred in Santa Ana, police said Monday.
The incident unfolded shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday near Edinger Avenue and Sullivan Street, according to police.
At one point, two officers made contact with an armed suspect sitting inside of a white pickup truck.
An altercation subsequently occurred, and a Taser was deployed.
The suspect was struck by the Taser and was transported to a hospital where he later died. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.
One of the officers was also transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident, however, he is expected to be released later today.
At this time, it remains unclear if the suspect fired a gun at the officers.
The incident remains under investigation.
