'The Crow' Actor Who Accidentally Killed Brandon Lee Dies At 61

LOS ANGELES (CSLA.com)   —  Variety is reporting that Michael Massee, "The Crow" actor who accidentally shot and killed Brandon Lee, has died.

Massee was 61.

The news first broke on social media where former Massee co-stars tweeted condolences to his family and loved ones.

According to Variety, Actor Anthony Delon first annouced the news in an Instagram post on Monday, writing "R.I.P. my friend Michael. You were 'five seconds away from a clean getaway.'" Massee and Delon  appeared together in"Interventions," a 2014 French TV series.

Actress Angie Harmon also expressed her condolences about her "Rizzoli & Isles" co-star.

Kansas City, MO born Massee was mostly known for playing heavies and bad guys.

"The Crow" was his second professional acting gig. He fired the improperly prepared prop gun that killed Lee on the set in 1993. Lee, the son of martial arts star Bruce Lee, died in surgery on March 31, 1993. He was 28. "The Crow" was finished using doubles and special effects and eleased in May of 1994.

Massee, who allegedly never was able to watch "The Crow," returned to New York following the accident and took a year off off from acting.

"I don't think you ever get over something like that," he said in a 2005 interview.

In addition to playing Funboy in "The Crow", Massee had  nearly 80 film and television credits including "Se7en," "The Game." "Catwoman," "The Amazing Spider-Man" and the sequel.

On TV, Massee had recurring roles on Fox's "24" NBC;s "Revelations" ABC's "Flashforward" and  TNT's aforementioned"Rizzoli & Isles."
