The Dominoes Fall Just Right For Woman Who Calls 911 With Pizza Emergency

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Mae Hawthorne, 85, who lives alone was hungry and sick. When she called her local Dominos she didn't understand why she was getting a hard time.

"I felt like they were messing with me," Hawthorne said. She hung up the phone in disgust and thought she was going to be hungry.

Turns out, Hawthorne had called Anaheim's 911 emergency line, and then an official call went out to check on an elderly woman who seemed disoriented.

When police found out the woman was simply trying to call Dominos they decided to solve the problem on their own.

Minutes later Anaheim police officer Brian Downs showed up with with a pizza at the woman's door.

"I didn't know she was a dispatcher. She should have said that, she didn't say you got the wrong number or nothing," Mae said

Hawthorne said she loved the special delivery and thinks highly of them and says they make it safe to walk the streets.

"It's cool to have somebody around that you know appreciates you and what you're doing out here on a daily basis," Downs said.
