Doors Open Friday For 'Rent The Runway' Store In Southern California

CANOGA PARK (CBSLA.com)  —    The popular online stop "Rent the Runway," is coming to Southern California in the way of a brick-and-mortar store.

It's the first store of its kind on the west coast.

KCAL9's Kristine Lazar has a preview of some of the designer deals that shoppers will enjoy when doors to the new store open Friday.

What can renter's expect? Rows and rows of designer dresses and clothing minus the hefty price tags.

"Now this is a $700 dress you can rent for only $80," says fashionista Cassie DiLaura. "It you never wear it again, it's okay."

It's high fashion without the commitment.

Rent the Runway is an online store that lets you rent everything from ball gowns to wool coats. They will open their 6th storefront Friday  at the Village at Topanga.

"Rent the Runway is a way to kind of revolutionize fashion and your closet. You can rent designer deals at a steal and you don't have to worry about losing on on a dress you spent$500-600 for, for  a dress you only wore once," says DiLaura.

Just like online, customers can choose a four or eight-day rental. You can return  the item of clothing at the store, or ship it back with a prepaid garment bag. Unlike online, in store you can try on the clothes- and you can drop in for a day-of rental.

Once you decide on a dress, you may feel your outfit isn't quite complete. They also offer designer jewelry and handbags. It's one stop shopping," Lazar reports.

They have coats, too. And their accessories start at just $10. Undecided on what you want to wear? In store, you can book an appointment with a stylist.

The Topanga store offers everything from Valentino and Derek Lam to Trina Turk and Monique Lhuillier.

Doors open at 10 a.m.
