Jury Deliberations Set To Begin In Derrick Rose Rape Trial

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Jury deliberations will begin Wednesday in the trial of a woman who alleges she was raped by New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose and two of his friends three years ago.

Deliberations are set to begin at 9 a.m. in downtown Los Angeles.

In closing arguments Tuesday, a defense attorney told the jury that the 30-year-old woman filed a "fake" lawsuit in a search for money and for revenge for being rebuffed.

The plaintiff's lawyer countered that his client was assaulted by Rose, Ryan Allen and Randy Hampton, and has yet to fully recover.

The woman at the center of the trial is suing the men for $21.5 million in damages for allegedly breaking into her apartment and sexually assaulting her in the predawn hours of Aug. 27, 2013, as she lay incapacitated after drinking.

The defendants each told the jury that they had been invited to the woman's home for consensual sex hours after they all had partied together at Rose's rented Beverly Hills mansion.

Rose and the woman were in some kind of relationship for about 20 months prior to the alleged assault, according to the district attorney's office.

Rose had broken up with the woman via text in July 2013, leaving her bitter and confused, according to attorneys.
