Long Beach Police Hunt Hit-And-Run Driver In Fatal Crash

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com)  –  Long Beach Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver that left a woman deceased at the scene.

Authorities said the accident occurred just after 4 a.m. Thursday in the westbound lanes of Spring Street -- just east of Temple Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found a female lying in the roadway with major head trauma.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and declared the woman deceased.

The woman's name was not released pending the notification of her next of kin.

Witnesses said that a newer white Mercedes Benz, struck the pedestrian in the roadway. After viewing video surveillance, it was determined that the vehicle was possibly a white, newer model Mercedes with tinted windows and a sunroof. Witnesses described the driver as a black male in his 20's or 30's, wearing a red baseball cap.
