Lakers Sign World Peace, Well-Traveled Thomas Robinson Before Camp

EL SEGUNDO (CBSLA.com/AP) — The Los Angeles Lakers have signed veteran forward Thomas Robinson.

The Lakers announced the deal Wednesday.

Robinson played for five teams in his first four NBA seasons, averaging 4.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game over his career. He spent last season with Brooklyn, starting seven games in 71 appearances.

The Lakers also signed veteran forward Metta World Peace to a one-year contract, the Vertical reported Wednesday.

Robinson was the fifth overall pick in the 2012 draft by Sacramento. He also has played for Houston, Portland and Philadelphia.

The Lakers have 19 players on their training camp roster. They will spend next week in Santa Barbara for their first camp under new coach Luke Walton.

Los Angeles is returning from the worst season in franchise history and the retirement of Kobe Bryant.
