Vets Stand On Pasadena Bridge Hoping To Put End To Suicide Epidemic

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — With a color guard leading the way, military veterans marched over to the Old Pasadena Bridge on Wednesday to begin what will be a 24-7 operation for three days to call attention to the number of veterans who commit suicide

Support groups say the number is staggering. Twenty veterans kill themselves every day.

Joseph Palesano of Wellness Works Glendale says post-traumatic stress disorder is a major factor in the suicides.

Palesano says veterans often tell him they think the government has truly dropped the ball and is not doing nearly enough to help those who have served and who are trying to integrate into civilian life.
