71-Year-Old Robbery Victim In Compton Was Allegedly Involved In Narcotics Sales, Deputies Say

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a 71-year-old man in Compton.

Deputies responded to a call of a possible deceased individual in the 800 block of West 134th Street on Saturday.

When they arrived, they located the victim, who paramedics pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told authorities the victim was renting a room at the home when two suspects, described as black men, tried to rob him.

"It is believed the victim was selling narcotics from the location and the suspects were to trying to rob him of his money and the drugs," the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

Authorities have not released information related to the manner in which the man was killed.
