Metro Celebrates Grand Opening Of Pedestrian Tunnel In North Hollywood

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles County transportation officials Monday celebrated the grand opening of a new pedestrian tunnel in North Hollywood.

The tunnel is intended to help connect the San Fernando Valley's two most heavily used transit lines, the Metro Red Line and the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit Line.

The new $22 million project will join the mezzanine of the Red Line Station with the plaza of the Metro Orange Line Station, and will increase safety for transit riders by eliminating the need to cross at Lankershim Boulevard.

The underground tunnel will also cut four to five minutes from station transfers.
