Long Beach Mayor Asks City Council To Approve Additional $20K Reward To Help Nab Suspect Who Killed Mom, Toddler

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia will ask the City Council to approve a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect who fatally shot a mother and her 4-year-old daughter Aug. 6.

Carina Mancera, 26, and her daughter Jennabel Anaya were shot at point-blank range around 10:20 p.m. in the location of Ninth Street and Locust Avenue, less than a block from their home.

Mancera was declared dead at the scene, her daughter died at a nearby hospital hours later.

If the City Council approves the request, a reward total of $40,000 will have been reached in the case.

Detectives believe there were people in the area who may have witnessed the incident or have information and are strongly encouraging them to come forward.
