Fire Crews Battle Brush Fire Near 101 Freeway In Thousand Oaks
THOUSAND OAKS (CBSLA.com) — Fire crews Monday quickly got a handle on a 30-acre brush fire off the 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks.
The fire was reported at around 11:30 a.m., burning in "light grass," according to fire officials.
About 125 firefighters responded to the scene.
By 12:45, forward progress of the fire was stopped, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
After the flames were largely extinguished, a smoldering crater next to the freeway could be seen from the sky.
