Rape Victim Makes Emotional Plea To Not Have Video Of Her Attack Made Public

MIRACLE MILE (CBSLA.com) — A rape victim made an emotional plea to not have video of her attack released to the public.

"My family has yet to view the video and I would like it to remain that way," said Shelby Pfeffer, who Thursday asked that video of the attack not be made public.

Pfeffer explains that the release of the video of her sexual assault -- which put 51-year-old Scott Bennett of Los Angeles in prison -- would victimize her all over again.

Bennett was a musician touring with the Brian Wilson band at the Hard Rock Hotel in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the time of the Dec. 2014 attack.

Security cameras at the hotel captured Bennett assaulting Pfeffer, who was a guest at the hotel, first in an elevator, then in a hallway. He was convicted of rape and sentenced to five years in prison.

"I have decided to file a civil lawsuit today against Mr. Bennett," she said.

The video was played in open court.

"I would not want to have to live knowing that it was available for anyone to view at any time," she said. "It is a complete re-victimization of me to have the video placed on the internet where it can be viewed forever."

This week, the judge in Oklahoma who presided over Bennett's case heard arguments as to whether security video should be released to the media.

His decision is expected by the end of the month.
