Man Shot Twice While Sitting In Car With Daughter, Girlfriend In Garden Grove

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 42-year-old man was shot twice while in a car with his daughter and girlfriend in Garden Grove.

The incident unfolded near Bolsa Grande High School late Tuesday afternoon on Westminster Avenue and Bushard Street though no students were involved.

Police believe the suspected shooter described as a 15-year-old gang member on probation started a confrontation with the man for reasons unknown.

"The suspect then walked over to the victim and shot several gunshot rounds at the victim," police said in a statement. "The victim was shot in the head and
back."

Police said the man's 16-year-old daughter was in the backseat and his girlfriend was in the driver's seat.

She attempted to drive him to the hospital but was asked to pull over in order to allow medics to assist him.

The man was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Police said the teenage boy was detained and later arrested. He is expected to be booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of attempted murder, police said, adding that a small handgun was recovered.
