Priceless Treasures Stolen From Rialto Home Of Marine

RIALTO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Wednesday night were searching for those responsible in the theft of priceless items that were taken from the home of a U.S. Marine.

"You're doing something for your country, for the freedom," said Cpl. Anthony Green, who has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

The 28-year-old says he when he came home Tuesday after a few days out of town, his bedroom window at his home in Rialto was shattered.

He says the thieves ripped out his 400-pound safe from his closet and likely carried it over his backyard wall. Inside were guns and ammunition.

He also alleges that they cleaned out his filing cabinet, taking precious coins and even the funeral programs from some of his fellow Marines.

"It's saddening," said Green. "That's something I can't get back."

But he and his fiancée say what they miss most is a Marine Corps sword they planned to use this summer at their wedding.

"These people had no respect," said Samantha Carmona, Green's fiancée. "Anthony, he served our country. He found for us, even fought for those robbers and they didn't care."

Though Green is a man of few words, he has this message for whoever stole his belongings:

"I hope that justice will be served, that you'll be found or at least leave it somewhere."

Rialto police say they have few clues.

Green says if he doesn't get the sword back before his wedding, he'll have to spend hundreds of dollars on a new one.
