Police Hunt Hit-And-Run Driver Who Allegedly Killed Pedestrian In Whittier

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities on Sunday identified a 58-year-old pedestrian who was struck and killed in Whittier by a hit-and-run driver in a pickup truck.

Police said they have since recovered the vehicle.

The victim, identified as Victor Gallegos of Whittier, was hit at about 9 p.m. Saturday by a white, older-model Toyota pickup that was headed north on Pickering Avenue approaching Hadley Street, according to police.

Gallegos was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup, with damage consistent with the crash, was located Sunday morning in Hacienda Heights and the driver was being sought, said Whittier Police Lt. Jay Tatman.
