Officials Identify Construction Worker Who Fell To His Death From DTLA High-Rise Building

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 36-year-old construction worker who fell to his death from a high-rise building in downtown Los Angeles has been identified, officials said Friday.

According to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, Joseph Sabbatino, of Palmdale, has been identified as the man who fell 53 stories from the Wilshire Grand Center.

The fall was reported around 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of South Figueroa Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Sabbatino was pronounced dead at the scene.

The construction company reported he had no work-related reason to be anywhere above the first three floors of the building.

The investigation could take months, according to a CAL-OSHA spokesperson.
