Hours After Beatles Producer Dies, 'Game Of Thrones' Author George R.R. Martin Says He's 'Not Dead Yet'

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) -  After the tragic passing of the legendary Beatles producer Sir George Martin, many "Game of Thrones" fans misunderstood the news and mistakenly thought the author of the novels behind the popular HBO series had passed.

One news outlet even took to social media and posted an image of the very much alive George R.R. Martin, fueling rumors of the author's passing.

Martin took to his personal online blog to reassure fans that he is "not dead yet," and that in fact it was the famed music producer who had passed.

"While it is strangely moving to realize that so many people around the world care so deeply about my life and death, I have to go with Mark Twain and insist that the rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated," Martin stated.

The author also posted the following message on his Twitter page: "What do we say to the god of death? #NotToday"

Fans can only wonder if this helps explain why the 67-year-old has fallen behind in writing his latest novel "Winds Of Winter" in the "Game Of Thrones" novel series.
