Murder Suspect, 21, Turns Himself In For Slaying In Canyon Country

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —   Homicide detectives with the LA County Sheriff's Department said a suspect turned himself in on Thursday saying he had killed a man.

David Aldana, 21, turned himself in at the San Ysidro Port of Entry United States Customs and Border Protection Office around 10 a.m., authorities said.

Aldana said he killed a man in the Canyon country area.

During an interview, Aldana agreed to show the investigators where he had placed the body.  Aldana directed the detectives to the location on Sand Canyon Road where they found the victim's remains. They discovered the victim had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

The victim -- an adult Latino -- was pronounced dead at the scene.

Aldana was transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's station for murder. He is being held in lieu of a $1 million bail.
