Crews Extinguish Fire At Garment Store In Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters Saturday extinguished a blaze that erupted in a one-story commercial building in downtown Los Angeles.

The fire broke out around 1 a.m. at a garment store located in the 1100 block of South Los Angeles Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters said flames caused the second-floor mezzanine to collapse in the back of the building.

The fire also threatened another building, but crews managed to contain the blaze to it's origin.

In just over an hour, 100 firefighters were able to extinguish the flames.

No injuries were reported.

A Building and Safety inspector has yellow tagged the building due to the extensive damage inside.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
