Arrest Made In Case Of Human Remains Found Behind Wall In Lomita House

LOMITA (CBSLA.com)  —  Officials have announced an arrest in a case involving human remains being found behind a wall in a residence in Lomita in 2015.

Almost a year to the day in 2016, officials positively identified the body as Raven Campbell, a 37-year-old woman who was reported missing from her Lomita residence (the 26800 block of Western)  in July 2009.

Cadaver dogs were used to search the residence and  they showed interest to possible human remains inside.

An autopsy revealed Campbell was killed by blunt force trauma.

On February 3, 2016, deputies arrested Randolph Garbutt, 43, for a traffic warrant.

He shared the Western Avenue residence with Campbell at the time of her disappearance. After being released on the traffic warrant, he was booked at the South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station Wednesday as the suspect in Campbell's murder.

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Monday, February 8, 2016, for filing consideration.

The investigation is still ongoing.
